About Toyota Celsior

Are you a fan of JDM vehicles? If yes, you surely know about the existence of the legendary: Toyota Celsior - The first luxury sedan to become well-known all over the world. Join us now to make your dream of owning a JDM car come true.

Toyota Celsior Overview

The Toyota Celsior, also known as Lexus LS, is a full-size sedan from Toyota's luxury division. It has been in production since 1989 and is considered Lexus's flagship model.

The first Celsior model was introduced in October 1989 and changed the image of Toyota about manufacturing luxurious vehicles because Toyota had not had a luxury car that was aware of overseas car markets until then so the Celsior has played an important role in Toyota's history.

Expanding 5 generations and still being in production until now, the Toyota Celsior has been known for its reliability, luxury, and exceptional performance.

Let's go quickly over the 5 generations of the Celsior to learn more about this legendary.

The first generation: 1989 - 1994

In 1989, Toyota launched the first Celsior model, also known as Lexus LX, which has gained popularity among upper-class car enthusiasts since its development. Equipped with a 4.0-liter 1UZ-FE 32-valve V8 engine, the first generation of Celsior can produce 245 PS and give drivers the best performance.

The second generation: 1994-2000

The Celsior started its second generation in 1994 with similar specifications as the first generation; however, there were some modifications in design, such as a longer wheelbase. Visually, the Celsior in this generation adopted a more aerodynamic and modern look, featuring smoother lines and a sleeker profile.

The third generation: 2000-2006

Debuted in January 2000, this generation had a new design with a lot of new technological features and interiors. The Celsior third generation was the first model in the US market equipped with adaptive cruise control.

Under the hood, a new 4.3 liter 3UZ-FE engine makes impressive power and smoothness while achieving improved fuel efficiency.

The fourth generation: 2006 - 2017

The fourth generation Toyota Celsior (Lexus LS 460) was introduced in 2006 and became the first Lexus to be produced in both standard and long wheelbase versions. Toyota has continuously upgraded and improved the performance of the Celsior with the launch of new engines in each generation.

A new 4.6 liter V8 engine can produce 283 kW, coupled to the first production 8-speed automatic transmission further enhancing the car's performance.

The fifth generation: 2017- present

This generation opened a new era of design and technology for the flagship sedan. It was the first Celsior to be powered by a V6 engine which can give power and efficiency.

To enhance the fuel economy, the Celsior also introduced the hybrid powertrain option. The suspension was improved to give better ride quality and handling.
